Star Maps
Yes it really is. It’s exactly what you would see from horizon to horizon over your head if there was zero light pollution.
We include the cardinal directions North, South, East, West on a compass surrounding the outside so you can get your bearings. The stars near the outside edges are the ones closest to the horizon, and the ones in the middle were what you would have seen if you looked straight up.
While it would be impossible to see this many stars, planets and the Milky Way galaxy with the human eye from most populated places on earth, we do everything we can to make it possible for you and your loved ones.
We use the same software that the projectors in planetariums use. Star catalogs and and astronomical databases have mapped out the galactic coordinates of every star, planet and galaxy visible from earth. This galactic coordinate system enables an accurate image to be generated from any point on earth at any time in the last 100 years.
We then define a stereographic projection from your chosen location to create your 100% unique night sky. It’s not really as complicated as it sounds.
Yes you definitely can. By default we use 11:00pm on the date you choose, or you can pick anytime of night or early morning. If you’d like a time during the daylight we can do that too but the sun will be showing. It looks like a large star (see below). We can still render what it would look like if it was completely dark at that time, it just wouldn’t be realistic to our eyes.
If the time of day is important then most people will do it because obviously the stars and planets are still there even if we can’t see them with our own eyes.

Yes you actually can. The alignments of the stars at any time in the future is fully predictable based on the Earth’s rotation. We can project future star positions using the same calculations astronomers use to forecast celestial events.
We create star maps for upcoming wedding or events all the time.
We offer poster prints, and framed prints in multiple sizes to fit any space including 8×10″, 12×16″, 16×20″ and 18×24″. If you want something larger or a custom size just get in touch with us about a custom order.
We print on heavyweight lustre paper that has a balanced finish with gentle sheen and soft texture, giving you the perfect blend between glossy and matte. The surface brings out deep color, crisp detail, and a refined gallery feel. Every print is made with archival quality inks that stay rich and vibrant over time, so your star map looks just as beautiful years from now as the day it arrives.
Black and white frames are crafted from premium polystyrene that has a smooth finish and a strong, lightweight feel that keeps your print protected without adding unnecessary weight. Each frame is 1.25 inches wide for a clean gallery style look. Our natural pine wood frame offers the same 1.25 inch profile with the warm texture of real wood. All frames are paired with crystal clear acrylic plexiglass covers that protect your artwork while keeping it bright and vibrant.
Yes. You can customize every line of text, including names, dates, locations, and personal messages. If you need inspiration or ideas for quotes or messages just check out our Gift Ideas page or talk to our helpful chat bot.
Every star map we create is rendered and edited individually by us, not auto-generated software. This gives each one a level of detail, color, and realism that no other companies offer. Because every piece is individually crafted, we do not show instant previews during checkout.
For many customers, this is part of the magic. Your map is made specifically for you, and seeing it for the first time when it arrives feels like opening a personal work of art. It becomes a meaningful reveal instead of something you’ve seen before.
If you prefer to see a proof before it goes to print, you can choose our optional $5 proof on the product page. We will send a digital proof for your approval before it goes to be printed. This lets you review your text and layout while still receiving a star map that is crafted with the same level of care and attention.
So it simply depends on whether you want the surprise of seeing it for the first time in person or the reassurance of approving a proof before it ships.
